Bhrigupati Singh teaches cultural anthropology at Brown University. His recent book, Poverty and the Quest for Life: Spiritual and Material Striving in Rural India was awarded the Joseph Elder Prize in the Indian Social Sciences and the 2016 Award for Excellence in the Study of Religion from the American Academy of Religion. He is the co-editor of The Ground Between: Anthropological Engagements with Philosophy and serves as an Associate Editor of HAU: Journal of Ethnographic Theory. He is currently working on an ethnography of mental health issues in ‘resettlement’ colonies in Delhi, based at the Department of Psychiatry, AIIMS and a book of essays titled What Comes After Postcolonial Theory?
