Youth Outreach @ JLF 2018: The Yuva Ekta Foundation
The Yuva Ekta Foundation is a registered not-for-profit trust based in New Delhi, India. With a core vision of Equity and Social Justice, we work at the intersection of youth and governance, spanning a canvas that integrates young people from different socio-economic backgrounds.
As part of the ZEE Jaipur Literature Festival Youth Outreach, we integrate students from Jaipur schools with participants from NGOs across the country. This diverse group comes together a week before the Festival to explore a socially relevant theme using Intensive Theatre and Expressive Arts Modules.
This year, the Youth Outreach will focus on ‘BREAKTHROUGH – Harnessing Emotional Intelligence’.
Defined as one’s ability to identify and manage one’s own emotions as well as those of others, to guide behaviour and attain desired outcomes, we will explore Emotional Intelligence and interpersonal dynamics with 60 young people, integrated from rural and urban Rajasthan, over the course of a week, and take our stories to 12 schools across Jaipur, to trigger self-awareness amongst the students as we help build more effective leadership skills, stronger friendships and connections to teachers, better conflict management skills, and greater academic achievement.
This year the performance will be showcased at ‘Samvad’ on 28th January, 12:30 PM, followed by an interaction with the Outreach participants.
This will be our 11th intervention at the Jaipur Literature Festival. Over the past 10 years we have conducted a range of workshops exploring themes like ‘Freedom to Dream’, ‘Human Rights’, ‘Finding ME’ and ‘Gender Justice’, and connected with over 10,000 students, teachers, community stakeholders and JLF visitors.
