Vijay Gokhale retired as Foreign Secretary of India in 2020 after four decades of service. He teaches at Symbiosis, Pune, and is also Senior Non-resident Fellow with Carnegie India. He has authored three books on China, the latest of which, After Tiananmen: The Rise of China, was published in September 2022. He regularly contributes pieces to foreign and Indian media.
