Purushottam Agrawal is a literary historian and fiction writer. His works include pathbreaking studies like Akath Kahani Prem Ki: Kabir ki Kavita aur Un ka Samay, Kabir, Kabir: The Life and work of Early Modern Poet Philosopher, Padmavat: An Epic Love Story, and Who is Bharat Mata, an exploration of Nehru’s ideas about India, its tradition, culture and history. Besides some short stories, he has to his credit a Hindi novel called NACOHUS, a Kafkaesque fantasy about politics of hurt sentiments, which is soon to appear in English translation. He is a British Academy Fellow at Wolfson College, University of Cambridge, and has served as professor at the Jawaharlal Nehru University, and as member of the Union Public Service Commission, India.
