Patrick French is a historian and biographer and is currently writing the authorised biography of the novelist Doris Lessing. He is Dean of the School of Arts and Sciences and Professor for the Public Understanding of the Humanities at Ahmedabad University as well as a member of Emmanuel College Cambridge.
