Maryam Aslany

Maryam Aslany is a leading scholar of rural economy and society in the developing world. She has a PhD in economic sociology from King’s College London and is currently a senior researcher at the Peace Research Institute, Oslo and a research scholar at the University of Oxford. While her first book, Contested Capital, contributed to the understanding of the global countryside, her current book, Peasants, will offer a radically new account of 21st-century capitalism.
