K. Satchidanandan is a renowned poet, writer, critic, playwright and editor who has written extensively in English, Arabic, Irish, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Chinese and Japanese, besides all major Indian languages. His latest books of poetry in English include While I Write, Misplaced Objects and Other Poems and Singing in the Dark, among others. Satchidanandan is the recipient of fifty-two literary awards, including the National Academy award, Dante Medal from Italy and the Poet Laureate Award from Tata Literature Festival, Bombay.
