Ishtiaq Ahmed

Ishtiaq Ahmed holds a PhD in Political Science from Stockholm University. He is Professor Emeritus of Political Science at Stockholm University. He is Honorary Senior Fellow at the Institute of South Asian Studies, National University of Singapore where he worked as Senior Research Professor. He has taught winter semesters at the Lahore University of Management Sciences and at Government College University Lahore. He has published several books with a special focus on the politics of South Asia discussed in the context of regional and international relations. His research on the partition of the Punjab in 1947 won several national awards in Pakistan and his description of Pakistan as a garrison state is recognized as authoritative. His latest book is Jinnah: His Successes, Failures and Role in History.
