Chitra Mudgal

Chitra Mudgal is the first Indian woman to receive the Vyas Samman for her novel Avaan, hailed as one of the greatest literary works in Hindi. Avaan, which has received worldwide acclaim, portrays the lives and times during the Trade Union Movement during the time of Datta Samant. A prolific writer, Mudgal’s work spans short stories, novels, children’s books, plays, essays and translations. Her latest work includes the shortstory collections Lokpriya Kahaniyan and Chuni Hui Kahaniyan, and the novel Post Box no. 203 , Nalasopara
