Bill Gates is a technologist, business leader and philanthropist. In 1975, he co-founded Microsoft with his childhood friend Paul Allen. Today he and his wife, Melinda, are co-chairs of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. Gates also launched Breakthrough Energy, a network of entities and initiatives, including investment funds, non-profit and philanthropic programmes, and policy efforts linked by a common commitment to scale the technologies we need to achieve a path to net-zero emissions by 2050.
