Bibek Debroy is an economist and was educated in Ramakrishna Mission School in Narendrapur, Presidency College in Kolkata, the Delhi School of Economics and Trinity College, Cambridge. Presently, he is Chairman, Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister and President, Indian Statistical Institute. He has worked in Presidency College, the Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics in Pune, the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade, as the Director of a Ministry of Finance/UNDP project on legal reforms, the Department of Economic Affairs, the National Council of Applied Economic Research, the Rajiv Gandhi Institute for Contemporary Studies, the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Centre for Policy Research and as Member of NITI Aayog. He has authored/edited several books, papers and popular articles and has also been a Consulting/ Contributing Editor with several newspapers.
