Ananda Devi

Ananda Devi, who has a literary career spanning more than four decades, is considered an important voice in the French literary world, using a poetic style and sensuous language to depict the harsh and violent realities of her own country, Mauritius, as well as other countries, such as India, from which her ancestors originate, and the UK. She is published by the major French publishers, is translated in a dozen languages and has received numerous awards, as well as decorations from the Mauritian and French States. She has published more than twenty-five books, including novels, poetry, short-stories and essays.
