Alex Renton is a British-Canadian journalist and author. His most recent book, Blood Legacy, long-listed for the Baillie Gifford Prize, examined the legacies of British colonialism and transatlantic slavery through his own family's history with the EIC and as slave and plantation owners in the Caribbean. Renton’s experiences in elite boarding schools led to a book, Stiff Upper Lip, and TV and radio programmes examining a culture of child abuse and cover-up in British institutions and its effects in the UK and beyond.
