Sushma Soma

Sushma Soma is an award-winning Karnatik vocalist. Recognised as one of the passionate ‘youths driving positive change through their actions’ and as one of the ’10 women leaders in music’ in Singapore, Sushma was awarded the Young Artist Award, the highest honour for young arts practitioners in Singapore. As a collaborator and soloist, Sushma has performed in some of the world renowned stages and festivals including Kalaa Utsavam in Singapore, The Madras Music Academy, Mahindra Kabira Festival in Varanasi, with Mythili Prakash at the Festival in Motion curated under the Qatar Creates series of performances for FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 and Reflektor Festival curated by Anoushka Shankar at the Hamburg Elbphilharmonie, amongst others. Sushma is a part-time lecturer at the National Institute of Education in Singapore and is a member of the advisory panel for the Singapore International Festival of Arts. Her album HOME, created with American composer and musician Aditya Prakash, received critical acclaim.

Aditya Prakash

Aditya Prakash, an award-winning vocalist, known for his powerful and emotive voice, is one of the foremost virtuosos of Karnatik music. At only 16 years of age, he became one of the youngest musicians to tour and perform with sitar maestro Ravi Shankar, accompanying him to such prestigious stages as Carnegie Hall, the Hollywood Bowl and Disney Concert Hall. Aditya has collaborated with a diverse range of innovative artists, including sitarist Anoushka Shankar; jazz pianist Tigran Hamasyan; electronic experimental artist Karsh Kale, and the acclaimed dancer and choreographer Akram Khan. Aditya founded the eclectic music group, Aditya Prakash Ensemble, which creates a space for dialogue between Karnatik and jazz. Aditya is under the mentorship of two prolific artists: author and activist, T.M. Krishna and the venerated musician and scholar of Karnatik music, R.K. Shriramkumar. Aditya’s current focus in production and composition lies in pushing boundaries within the classical idiom.

The Anirudh Varma Collective (AVC)

The Anirudh Varma Collective (AVC) is a contemporary Indian classical ensemble from New Delhi, India. It is led by pianist, composer & producer, Anirudh Varma. The Anirudh Varma Collective comprises over 150 musicians & artistes from across India, America, and Canada. The Collective aims to discover, re-discover, and present the tradition & diversity of Indian music in a contemporary yet rooted manner in order to reach and connect with the masses. The Collective has released two full-length albums, 'Perspectives' (2018) and Homecoming (2022), both of which have received critical acclaim. They have performed at HCL Concerts, the Jaipur Literature Festival, Mood Indigo IIT Bombay, Serendipity Delhi, The Mahindra Kabira Festival, and the Virasat Festival, Dehradun to name a few. AVC’s second album ‘Homecoming’ has also been featured amongst the top 15 Indian albums of 2022 by Rolling Stone India. THE AVC CARNATIC QUINTET: The AVC Carnatic quintet was envisaged to create compositions without a fixed arrangement resulting in an unrehearsed and impromptu performance. The idea is to feed off each other's energy and hear what comes of it!

PANGAEA

PANGAEA consists of three professional musicians who met whilst New Zealand composer/ songwriter Mike Hogan was living in New Delhi in 2019. The group performs a fusion of Indian and Western musical styles. They use songs, Hindustani and European Classical as well as improvisation, effects and a range of compositional devices to create their own particular sound. Tabla player Saptak is one of the top young classical musicians in India and a recent winner of the All India tabla competition. Sitar player and flautist Mayank is one of only two musicians in India to ever achieve an A grading with the prestigious All India Radio in two instruments simultaneously. Guitarist and singer Mike has been working as a musician in New Zealand and abroad for the last 20 years.

Souravbrata Chakraborty

Souravbrata Chakraborty started learning the sitar from the age of twelve under the able guidance of his mother Smt. Mala Chakraborty. He further studied the sitar under Pt. Manilal Nag, Pt. Kashinath Mukherjee, Dr. Pradip Kr Chakraborty. He studied Surbahar under the doyen of Jaipur Senia Gharana, Acharya Netai Bose. He also got the opportunity to study in Dagar Gharana under luminaries such as Ustad Fariduddin Dagar, Ustad Bahauddin Dagar, Pt. Umakant Gundecha & Pt. Ramakant Gundecha. He has performed across India and abroad and successfully presented Surbahar recitals.
