Vayu Naidu

Vayu Naidu is a novelist and concert performance storyteller of oral traditions. As the Founder and Artistic Director of the Vayu Naidu Company, funded by the Arts Council England from 2001-2012, she has collaborated with a range of agencies and worked with people in prisons, victims of domestic and abused children across Britain and Ireland. Her first novel Sita’s Ascent was nominated for the Commonwealth Book Award. Her second novel, The Sari of Surya Vilas,  is historical fiction set in the Madras Presidency from 1857-1916. A SOAS Research Associateship has enabled research for her forthcoming novel about the impact of texts circulating in the 17th century across diverse belief systems.
