Dolly Thakore and the Finer Details in Life

Dolly Thakore and the Finer Details in Life

Growing up in a home where her father was in the Air Force, veteran theatre personality, Dolly Thakore, shared during her session at the Jaipur Literature Festival 2021 that she had a very happy growing up – “you didn’t feel insecure about anything, it didn’t matter if my father did not have a big long car,” noted Thakore, and added that she had a very comfortable, acceptable and confident childhood.

Sanjoy K. Roy noted that even at the age of 13, when Thakore did not even adorn her trademark bindi, she could still hold her own in any place, even when it came to having a romantic liaison with somebody who was 26 “What is it that gave you that kind of confidence?” asked Roy. “Let’s be honest…,” began Thakore and stated that “everybody craves for a certain kind of attention…it wasn’t that you went out for it or chased it, it just happened…it made you feel happy about.” She said that there was also a type of romance in keeping it hidden.

“There was pain when it drifted” noted Thakore but further added that she is the type of person who sets great store with the relationships she forms – be it platonic or romantic. “I don’t think I have had that kind of disappointment in friends but I have certainly had it in the people who I specially paid attention to!”
