Sahil Maqbool

Sahil Maqbool is a Kashmiri author, journalist and broadcaster. He is best known for Shabistan-e-Wajood, which recounts the three and a half years he spent in prison following accusations of holding secret documents and spying for Pakistan. The book was awarded the 2009 Reporters Without Borders Prize. His other work includes the poetry collection Khamosh Talatum, the novel Tanaza-e-Kashmir, Tareekh Kay Aayeenay Mein and the short story collection Qadam Qadam Tazeer. His latest work is Parchanwan, a collection of Pahari poetry. It was awarded Best Book by the J&K Academy of  Art, Culture and Languages. Maqbool is currently the editor of the Urdu  daily, Buland Kashmir.
