Peter Pannke
Peter Pannke is a singer, dreamer and storyteller born in Germany. His books include Troubadoure Allahs – Sufimusik im Industal,Indien – Fest der Farben, Mali – Reise durch ein magisches Land(Frederking & Thaler, Munich) and Saengers muessen zweimal sterben – Eine Reise ins unerhoerte Indien(Piper/Mallik, Munich).
At the Jaipur Literature Festival he is launching Dreamtalker – Songs, Poems, Essays (Daastaan, New Delhi). Other forthcoming titles are Indien hören(Silberfuchs, Hamburg); Saints and Singers(Oxford University Press, Karachi),Singers Die Twice(Indica Books, Varansi) and Das verzauberte Ohr – Die Entdeckung der Weltmusik(Schott Music International, Berlin).He is a well-known broadcaster with more than 4000 radio features to his credit, more than half of it on India and Pakistan. He has produced close to 100 world music CDs and is the bandleader of Troubadours United (www.troubadours-united.com). Film maker Elfi Mikesch, winner of the German Camera Award in 2007, portrayed it in the 1-hour documentary The Road of the Troubadours (ZDF/ARTE 2002).
