Larry Pressler was raised on a South Dakota farm. First in his family to attend college, he interrupted his Rhodes Scholarship in Oxford to enlist in the US Army and serve two combat tours in Vietnam. He went on to earn graduate degrees from Oxford, and Harvard Law School. Senator Pressler served two terms in the US House of Representatives and three terms in the US Senate where he is best known for the Telecommunications Act of 1996 and the Pressler Amendment.
